In a wide ranging interview with an internet radio station last week, FAMU Athletic Director Nelson Townsend said that negotiations to resume the FAMU/Southern football series were currently underway, and that he felt real good about them. Townsend made the comments during a 37 min. interview on the HBCU Sports Network Show carried by the Jericho Broadcasting Network.
Townsend also said that Gaither Gym would also get air conditioning this year and that football season tickets would go on sale on April 15th for $140 for box seats and $120 for reserved seating. Season ticket holders would be eligible for priority seating at the Florida Classic on the 50 yard line, Townsend added.
Townsend also said that the weight room in the Galimore-Powell Fieldhouse will be doubled in size by September, though he was short on specifics.
During the interview, Jericho announced that they would "broadcast" the April 15 FAMU Orange and Green scrimmage live over the internet.
