The State newspaper in Columbia, SC named FAMU's Bragg Memorial Stadium as one of its favorites. Particularly, the State said FAMU sure knows how to have a homecoming. Here's what they had to say, "The tradition of Homecoming still exists, and thrives, at Florida A&M, where alums plan their entire year around this one weekend. The stadium is filled at least one hour before kickoff as the Marching 100 band performs.

The band’s entrance, the most spectacular in college football, carries on for about 20 minutes. Once positioned in perfect precision, the high-stepping, heavy-on-brass band turns a crowd of 20,000 into dancin’ fools.

Halftime shows at Florida A&M have been known to last 45 minutes. It is a school tradition that the Rattlers take a 5-yard delay-of-game penalty to begin the second half because the band always exceeds its allotted time to play."

If we would only do more to make this kind of "tradition" exist for ALL of our Home Games, we would have a far less reliance on having to "prostitute ourselves for pennies" to cities like the ATL, Miami - And yes, even Mickey Mouse - in order to balance our Budget.

ALSO - Bear in mind that the greater our attendance figures look all season, the greater our chances of being able to actually HOST future I-AA Playoff Games ... "THIS YEAR!"

That's the kind of Home Field Advantage that could go a long way towards US going a long way this year ... "So We Better WTFU!"

If you don't have your Season TIcket(s) yet, you STILL have time. Call the Ticket Office at 850-599-3141, and show some REAL support of your Program.

  4. Anonymous 8:28AM makes oerfect sense. Its small minded folk and those that are stuck on letting others dangle a carrot in front of us that think he is wrong. We set the stage with Classics many years ago with the OBC. Now its time for us to lead the charge and show other HBCU's that you can have a successful program without being raped and taking your money elsewhere.

  5. How is it that others play in Classics/Bowls and make tons of money?

If he's making so much sense, why haven't the people who make the decisions or you for that matter done anything about this fool's plans.

Something ain't right, as far as sense is concerned.

I've already put my money where my mouth is, but if you want to take it to another level, I'll follow as soon as you lead.

FAMU led in its division for football attendance, so says the NCAA. The problem is much more complex then simply showing up to a football stadium and buying tickets.
BTW, we've hosted playoff games at Bragg Stadium.

  6. I for one have put my money where my mouth is. I don't live in Tallahasse, but have purchased season tickets (5)each year since 1981 to be exact. Contributed 5K to the cause initiated by Rev. Holmes for the athletic department.

    BTW.....Bragg holds 25,500. Think about it 25,500 x $20 = $510,000.
And that is a low ball figure.
what I am saying is let's take care of home and stop depending on others to fund our program.

And do we truly know what others are making off Classics. Sure we see a dollar amount, but when you look at the expenses associated the playing the Classics, have they really made money. Years ago when the OBC was the Grand Daddy of HBCU football, FAMU paid all expenses of the visting team and gave them a guarantee. FAMU was able to do that because of faithful fans that filled up Bragg. Hence we didn't depaend on anyone to support us and fund our endeavors.

    Yeah sure ...

When you're REALLY ready to put your words into action ... You let this fool know how much you're ready to put up - And we'll see who's the TRUE fool out here!!
