Alumni Office to be revamped

Our sources inform us that our interim president, aka sistah slash and burn, plans to overhaul the Office of Alumni Affairs. Sources say, the current staff has been given notice by interim executive director Altha Manning and plans are underway to hire ten new staffers.

Mrs. Manning, as most with of “sistah slash and burn’s” new hires, we are told, has been given a three year contract.

While no one can argue that the OAA has been woefully understaffed, for years, and is in desperate need of an overhaul to provide increased services to alumni one is left to wonder why there has been no input on the reorg by National Alumni President Alvin Bryant?

Castell trying to influence Alumni elections
Speaking of the National Alumni Association, we hear that “sistah slash and burn” is making a strong attempt to influence the outcome of the NAA Election. It seems that our resident Jeb Bush is favoring Carolyn Jones over Alvin Bryant. Alvin Bryant it seems has become a thorn in the side of the interim presidents with his frequent calls to a have permanent president in place ASAP.

Not surprisingly, nothing this IP’s administration does surprises us anymore, the interim president is said to be using the vast resources of the University --contracts, grants, jobs, etc.-- to try to sway the election.

  1. Yelp, and some of those alumni that have decided to break camp and not support the move for a permanent president have been offered lucrative jobs at FAMU.

Look around, many have already starting working in the administration and as faculty.

Hey Cassie, if I become a sympathizer would you give me a job too? I want one of those big ones with the 6 figures.

    I smell a rat.

  6. It's funny that all of this crap is coming to light now. She just called my grandmama complaining about the NAA President saying he is the reason behind the problems at FAMU and she is just trying to fix things. Funny, she couldn't tell my grandmama what things she's trying to fix. She just love to call and complain about how bad things are at FAMU. If she only new. My grandmama wants her ass gone like yesterday. I told my grandmama to stop listening to her lie. Oh yeah, she loves brag about the people she has fired and the people she's gonna fix.

  7. Alvin Bryant, I think, still wants to atone for the mistake he made regarding Fred Gainous. In retrospect, I bet he wishes he had been more patient, but he had himself been through a contentious election and wanted to seem presidential, decisive and independent.

  8. ^^^Really. I got a phone call from one of my boys as soon as that infamous NAA meeting adjourned. My boy told me that there were several central/south Florida members that came there with a speech in hand and a motion. Once the motion was made those people in that meeting voted to oust Gainous. This whole thing was planned in Tampa at the FL region meeting and executed with precision. Alvin just happened to be president at the time.

This group had a agenda and they pushed it until they got the outcome they wanted. She's sitting in 400 Lee Hall. The problem now is Alvin is getting in their way and not supporting the agenda. All this talk about a new president is messing with the 5-year plan and people's money. Or should I say, how to get FAMU's money?

Who wants to bet it's alumni that have been pushing the "I love Castell b/c she is cleaning up the mess" propoganda?

Probably b/c he's a Republican along the lines of Dwight D. Eisenhower and/or Abe Lincoln. I really don't know, but I'm just putting this out there.

You seem to be in the loop. Are you referring to certain alumni from the DC and Atlanta areas getting jobs on campus; or the last minute push by the Atlanta chapter to register almost 50 members just hours before the OAA office closed on Aug 31? It seems in my circle there is talk of certain alumni coming into some very lucrative jobs on campus and I know of a few that have already starting working. So enlighten us and tell us who's getting paid and by whom?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Really? Who from Atlanta or DC has gotten a position on campus?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Could it be that these alumni just so happened to have applied for the job and were qualified? Did someone stop any of you from wanting to go back and support your alma mater? We should be glad that any alumni want to go back and support FAMU. More of you around the country should consider doing this. Let's stop with the ridiculous conversation. Alumni from around the country work at FAMU or should alumni that live in Leon County be the only ones who can work on campus?

  17. A hit dog will holla!
"snicker" All jokes aside. If in the beginning, you were gong-ho "Get rid of Castell and get a permanent president ASAP; and, you are now saying that Castell is doing an excellent job, what has changed other than the fact the she has promised your family, your friends, your crew or you employment? It sounds like someone has been silenced.

Why are you not as willing as you were a few months ago to push the agenda for a new president? Why did you bow out and say you can no longer speak ill of Castell? Why did you participate in a cover up of the investigation? Why are you now as much a part of the problem then you are of the solution?

I'ma just askin? What's up with dat?

    ReplyDelete
  18. The main point is Castell needs to leave the hiring of long-term staff to the new President. Why haul all these people down here and the new President fires them next year? Any permanent leader should be given the courtesy to hire his or her own qualified staff. I think it is a show of dis-respect for the in-coming President for Castell to continue to hire these people. When Dr. Humphries was preparing to leave, he showed great professional respect and did not hire anyone in his last six months of tenure, and he was "the President", not an interim. The people accepting these jobs leaves a lot to be desired as far as futuristic thinking about their careers are concerned. The BOT should have taken the responsibility and ordered a hiring freeze since they are supposely trying to find a permanent president. Since Castell is continuing to hire, it appears like the BOT search for new leadership is a "FAKE" and Castell is the Permanent President.

  23. Can someone confirm if there is any truthfulness surrounding the support/vote for a certain candidate phone calls that Altha Manning is making across Florida? A particular chapter president (central FL) indicated as much, but I would like to know if this is really true across that board.

  24. I know for sure that Compliance VP Rufus Little is plugging Mrs. Jones everytime he opens his mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We're all familiar with Rufus on this blog. He's the person who always makes the most ignorant statements. It's no surprise that he's calling on everyone to vote for Jones.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Are you saying that Rufus Little is responsible for making all of these damn phone calls to my cell, office and home phone numbers? My home number is unlisted for this exact reason.
