Today the board begins the process of selecting the next president of FAMU. A couple of words of wisdom: (1) remember this is a public meeting (F.S. 286.011 [1]) and the public is entitled to hear all deliberations, discussions and no exceptions; (2) the committee co-chairs Branker and Holmes should run the show today; (3) the BOT chair should remember that they are just a member of the presidential search committee only by virtue of their bylaws; and (4) finally, this does not entitle the chair (ex officio) to force hand-picked candidates through the process. Hopefully, the committee has developed a core of questions for all candidates and a set of questions for each individual candidate to delve into their visions and experiences in higher education. RN has been informed that one of the weaknesses from the Gainous’ interviews is that by the second round, candidates knew what questions were asked and had time to prepare responses. This time around the search committee has to wise-up and has prepared a second set of questions so as not to give
RN hopes that the presidential committee has taken care of house-keeping and extended the good ole FAMU hospitality to insure all candidates that they are welcome to FAMU and we are really interested in getting to know them during this interview process. Presidential search committee, we know that you have provided the customary FAMU gift baskets, car service to and from the interviews or an assigned parking space (because we all know what parking is like on-campus) and some memento that says FAMU has class and this is definitely the place your want to be as president. Anything short of this shows a lack of class.
In conclusion, please no back-door deals this time around. This is your last opportunity to get it right.

For we Rattlers will do what we have to do to get him to consider returning home if picked. We want to lay down the palm leaves for him on his arrival for his interview.

Dr. Ammons is Here!!!!!!!!
He healed the sick Rattlers at 10:00, made the blind Rattlers see at 10:15, turned water into Rattler wine at 11:00, and fed the Rattler Multitude at 11:30. A Rattler walking on water should do the trick!
On a related note - anybody heard what's happened to the Law School Dean search? That seems to be at a dead end.

Just be careful for that whichest you asketh for ... As thou person who left is not the sameth person that you haveth TODAY!
Ammons is the not the same person he was when he left FAMU. He is even better prepared now and ready to lead.

No Contest! Dr. Ammons just blew away the committee during the interview. He may have just responded to an nomination but his presentation showed he is after the job. He was ready! Big ups to NCCU and FAMU. Whether he goes or stays we both have a winner.

Maybe ...
But ... Are YOU?
James Ammons will be good for the university; he never would have mis-treated people the way Castell Bryant has done in the nearly two years she's been at the helm. First, you have to like people; that should be the first order of business. Castell doesn't like anyone, except those folk that she's paying all those big $$ to to help her screw up the university. And I'm not too sure that she likes those people; she's paid for their loyalty. Probably got that mentality from somewhere in Bartow, where, probably she was voted least liked person in all of the town.
ReplyDeleteIf James Ammons doesn't get the nod, we all ought to riot in the street or at least at the university. (Just kidding, but if he doesn't get the nod, it will be a pitiful shame.)

ReplyDeleteHe wouldth be a damnth site better than want we've endureth these last few years...
Anon 3:39pm the law school will not select a permanent dean until at least 2008. Nathaniel Friends will be named the interim dean on Monday.
