FAMU's Roosevelt Kiser is preparing for his shot at the NFL. The gifted receiver, who hopes to be choosen by NFL team in the April draft, has signed with an agent and it is working out with Titus Sports Academy to improve his chances.
Kiser caught 63 passes for 647 yards and five touchdowns this past season for the Rattlers and finished his career (2003-2006) fourth in receptions and sixth in receiving yards on FAMU's career list.
Kiser has already begun showcasing his talents to scouts having participated in the Magnolia Gridiron Classic Dec. 23 in Jackson, Miss.
The all-star game pitted players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) against players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA). Kiser caught four passes for 60 yards for the Championship Subdivision team.
"I'm pleased with how I did," Kiser said. "It's an all-star game so I didn't expect to do much. They held a mini combine and I had a chance to talk to 15 NFL teams."
While Kiser would love to be one of the chosen few who get drafted by an NFL team in April, he isn't pinning all his hopes on the idea.
"Being drafted isn't everything," Kiser said . "If you don't go in the first two or three rounds, it's sometimes better if you don't get drafted because you can get with a team that really needs you."
