Before James Ammons takes over as Florida A&M University's new president, his contract will have to be negotiated, signed and ratified.The contract, spelling out his salary and starting date, will be on terms negotiated with FAMU's board of trustees, which hired him Thursday.
Ammons has earned $230,000 a year in his current job as North Carolina Central University chancellor, compared with FAMU Interim President Castell Bryant's $300,000 salary.
On Friday, Vice Chairman William Jennings of the board was appointed by Chairwoman Challis Lowe to begin negotiations with the assistance of FAMU General Counsel Elizabeth McBride.
The board is expected to finalize Ammons' contract terms at its March 8 meeting.
The Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the universities, must ratify Ammons' hiring, but that's mostly a formality.

I hope some Rattlers find out where you are applying for employment next so we can email the management and tell them what a liar and a fraud you are. But in all likelihood, you'll just end up at FGCU (with a huge paycut of course -- no one with any sense is going to pay you what Bryant paid you).

Question: Did the administration try to hide the deficit and people not getting their pay check under the news of a great hire? How will they pay for their deciet for those who need their money for the work that they did - the TA's, RA's & adjuncts?
