Castell Failed

In the midst of the chaos created by Castell (Corbin) and Lowe, the FAMU BOT is now beginning to question what the university got from the $6M it has paid with KPMG. Since Gainous tenure, KPMG has been paid to advise and implement a financial system that was accountable and functional.
Today, one of Castell's favorite newspapers, the St. Pete Times joined the chorus of desenters calling her out "FAMU's savior fell from grace".
Castell's Greatest Hits
The St. Pete Times made her our "saviour", folks in the know knew the real deal, that she was only coming to do Corbin and Jeb's bidding.
ReplyDeleteNow the Times has finally come around. Muck'em!
While it's refreshing to see that at least one writer at the St. Pete Times has gotten it right, it's clear that the full editorial board still doesn't have a clue. They continue to blame Humphries for Castell's problems.
ReplyDeleteHumphries (nor Gainous) left the enrollment decline, NSF crisis, payroll crisis, $10 deficit, or accreditation problems that Bryant is dealing with. Those problems were all created by her and her band of incompetents.
you do not see the forest. the st. pete times clearly states that these issues go beyond castell. the times has not come around. merely reiterating a thankless and tough job ms. bryant had. humphries should be coming back and apologizing.

Yeah, as soon as Castell returns that bonus and raise.
ReplyDeleteCastell Bryant is stupid and so is J. M.
ReplyDeleteDr. Frederick S. Humphries is not to blame for FAMU's current financial problems.
ReplyDeleteHumphries left FAMU with:
-16 years of clean operational audit opinions from the State Auditor General's office;
-An Athletic Budget Surplus of $3M;
-An Operating Budget that was $3M cash positive;
-A Composite Cash Balance of $22M;
-A Foundation of more than $65M (after inheriting a foundation that had less than $6M);
-Nearly $90M in approved capital construction dollars;
-Over 12,000 students (after inheriting a student body that had less than 3,500).
Those are the facts. Dr. Humphries did not leave FAMU in a financial crisis.
FAMU's current financial issues go back to former board Chairman James Corbin. He pressured former President Fred Gainous to fire all the senior officers in the controller's office who had experience in preparing the financial statement and securing clean operational audit opinions.
Gainous and Castell Bryant gave big bucks to KPMG, which has turned out to be completely inept in managing the university's money.
Plus, Bryant cut the recruitment program: FAMU's largest revenue-generating unit.
It's time to stop blaming Humphries for problems he didn't create and start looking at the facts!
