The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2007 Commissioner's All-Academic Team on Tuesday, recognizing 536 student-athletes from the conference's 11 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2006-07 academic school year.
Forty-four student-athletes from Florida A&M - 24 women and 20 men - were among those named Tuesday.
The team honors student-athletes, including sophomores to seniors, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better that compete in MEAC sponsored sports.
"It is always a pleasure to recognize and commend the student-athletes with a 3.0 or better grade point average," said Commissioner Dennis Thomas. "These student-athletes are what the educational process is all about, succeeding academically and athletically.
Joe says talks of his going to Hampton are premature
Billy Joe, the former FAMU head football coach, told the Tallahassee Democrat Tuesday morning that he has, in fact, been in talks with Hampton Athletic Director and head football coach Joe Taylor about filling the team's vacant offensive-coordinator job, but that a deal has not been finalized.
There's also speculation, which Joe would not confirm or deny, that he is a candidate for the head coaching job at Alabama State University.
One thing I've noticed on this site is that very few people offer commentary on the good news, but let there be some terrible news, i.e., anything that Castell has done, and we light up the board like a Christmas tree. My point? No one wants to ackknowledge the positive, becuase that sort of thing is of, so boring and the topic is not considered "juicy" and gossipy, but everyone has a hand in the negative, because we can bash each other's heads in like nobody's business, and we simply enjoy being mean and hateful (to each other and to outsiders) most of the time. We can be our own worst enemy.
ReplyDeleteWe've noticed the same thing. And it's sadden us tremendously.
ReplyDeleteI have commented on the same thing. If the headline would have read "Forty-four stole from hotel," there would have been a whole lot of hits.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we see the light?
10:00 a.m. you are so on point!!!
