Diallo raised bar for successor

Through all of the craziness on the FAMU BoT over the last few years one trustee could always be counted on to ask the right question. That trustee was Mary Diallo.

As Roosevelt Wilson, over at the Capital Outlook, correctly observed Diallo was always dignified, respectful and soft-spoken, but tenacious and tough as nails.

" She was one of three trustees - the Rev. R.B. Holmes and Pam Duncan the others - to challenge the previous administration with tough and probing questions, but like Holmes and Duncan, was portrayed as one of the “bad guys” for simply doing her job as a trustee," Wilson wrote.

  2. Please dont start singing the praise of Holmes & duncan!!!

  3. You've GOT to be kidding. What about duncan & holmes' blind allegiance to cassie for 27 of her 28 months that went FAR beyond just doing their job. Maybe if they had done their jobs much earlier, things would not have gotten as bad as they did. They deserve NO credit for seeing the light at the last moment, which seriously calls their judgment and character into question.

Diallo and the fired Alston are the ONLY ones who deserve credit on this one. They stand ALONE!

  4. Dr. Diallo is the one Trustee that really took the time to read and try and understand the materials. She alone was the only one that would ask the hard, difficult to answer questions. Thank you for your service Dr. Diallo and I fully concurr you will be missed on the BOT!!!

  5. For the record, that was Mr. Wilson praising Duncan & Holmes. Not RN.

  6. Oh, we know, RN! Rosie can jump on the bandwagon faster than anyone I've ever seen, even if it's the wrong one!

  9. First of all...Corey Alston is a self-serving opportunist and is by no means noble.

Mary Diallo however, had the University's best interests at heart and is a fine woman who used her position to serve and not to be served. There is a difference...

Corey is bankrupt of integrity and the world knows it! He left the board because he did not have the basic qualifications required to serve and following a game of lip service, his credentials and false application caught up with him!

  10. And, before Diallo there was young Larry Rivers , who as SGA president, went toe to toe with the BOT Chair James Corbin.

Rivers outsmarted and outclassed old Darth Vadar Corbin!

  11. Actually Alston was the best BOT member in recent memroy...he is the reason Holmes, Duncan, and Diallo were asking questions....he left the Board because no one else would stand up to Castell, now everyone wants to challenge her one year later...The young guy was "young" but wiser than any other board member

  12. It disgusts me the way Holmes tries to be in EVERY picture with Ammons and is trying to get as much of Ammons shine as he can right now. He won't take any responsibility for what happened to FAMU. He needs to be on the board of a religious organization NOT at place of higher education. His ineptitude has seriously hindered the university. Just because you voted for Ammons to come doesn't excuse the fact that you offered no checks and balances to CVB and under YOUR WATCH the school was placed on probation. On that alone he should step down, as well as ALL the BOT members (that don't have automatic seats) that were on the board during the schools downfall. Getting "livid" after the fact doesn't help anyone. Getting "livid" beforehand helps everyone!
