Billy Rolle is only Miami-Dade coach to lead two different teams to a state championship!

Former Rattler defensive standout and FAMU Hall of Famer, Billy Rolle, head coach of the 12-0 Miami Northwestern High School Bulls, will lead his team to the Region 4-6A championship game tonight at Miami's Traz Powell Stadium.

Northwestern enters the game on a 27-game winning streak, the state's longest active surge. The Bulls are ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today.

  2. There is a major difference between high school football and collegiate athletics. Everyone can't make the transition. We need to get to some of these Division 1A coaches in nationally recognized programs across the country and we need an athletic director with proven leadership and experience especially in the realm of building quality athletic facilities. FAMU asked the Florida Board of Governors for a little over $33 million dollars to renovation and add onto Bragg Stadium and we need someone with expertise to lead that project

  3. Check out Keith R. Tribble at the University of Central Florida. He was the one who led the construction of there new 45,000 seat stadium and there new 10,000 seat arena with shops and restaurants at the bottom.

  4. Are we gonna put up the money to help hire a nationally recognized coach?

  5. I think if coach Rolle is serious about wanting to become the head Rattler, then he would not be a necessarily bad choice and here is why. 1.) he is respected in the Miami high school coaching circles which would help us land some major high school talent. 2.) from my point of view, a winner is a winner, no matter what level. if you know how to win, then you know how to win.

The only thing that he would have issues with is administrative. He would have to insure that his players graduate, and also understand that (unlike high school) his players will not necessarily be revered on campus, thus will not get a pass from professors. Also, he would definitely have to surround himself with great college minds on the defensive and offensive side of the ball.

  7. Actually the request was $35 million dollars and it took place at the September 27, 2007 Board of Governors meeting that took place in Tallahassee. It was throught the BoG Facilities Committee. It was a 2008-2009 Fixed Capital Outlay ProjectRequiring Legislative Approval to be Constructed, Acquired and Financed by a University or a University Direct Support Organization with Approved Debt Authorized by the Board of Governors. The funding source the document says is Athletics and the brief project descriptioon includes a Stadium upgrade, new field house, skybixes and seating expansion.
