The FAMU Student Government Association will encourage students to spend their money with Black-owned business Friday thru March 2, in something it is calling a a "Blackout".
"It is frustrating to see black-owned businesses go out of business because we do not support them," said Kianta Key, secretary of economic development for FAMU's SGA and co-chair of Blackout.
Leading up to the Blackout, SGA will hold a "Black is Green" Student Business Expo and a seminar focusing on the pros and cons of entrepreneurship. The Expo will highlight student entrepreneurs from FAMU, representatives from the Florida Black Business Investment Board Inc. and the Grass Roots Investment Group will be on hand to give students tips on seeking start-up financing.
