More than 3,600 basketball fans turned out last night for last night for FAMU's basketball game last night against rival Bethune-Cookman. FAMU won 69-50 and ends the regular season with a 14-16 record (9-7 MEAC).
"The Rattler Nation was in here tonight," FAMU coach Eugene Harris said.
The Lady Rattlers did their part also, by burying the Lady Wildcats 49-39.
In other news...
Inclimate weather has caused delayed starts at the FAMU Relays this morning as Tallahassee and North Florida is under a Tornado Watch.
So that's probably the last time that place will be packed?
ReplyDeleteWell the new gym doesn't open until February of 2009, so maybe we can pack it for one last time when we play BCU in December of next season.
ReplyDeleteI'd honestly like to see us end what seems like a hankering to play B-Cu in anything. Who really cares? They're not really our rivals and we really could help all of the HBCUs in Florida.
ReplyDeleteFYI, the FAMU Symphonic Wind Ensemble traveled to Miami and was honored to be the feature guest performance at the American Bandmasters' Association's National Confernce. The concert took place in The Maurice Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami. The State of Florida, Tallahassee, Leon County and, The Florida A&M University familiy was represented phenominally! Even one of the composers was moved to excitement. The audience gave an extended standing ovation and discreetly opined that the ensemble out performed the post graduate-heavy UofM ensemble. President Ammons was even in attendance, which honored and impressed the national delegation and audience. The students and faculty in the Dept. of Music really presented an amazing, goose bump producing effort. They should be commended. The students and faculty are positioning to confirm the program as a poerhouse in the symphonic arena. The performance was in Honor of Dr. William P. Foster, no doubt. Hubba DOC!
ReplyDelete^^^ So what ! ^^

ReplyDeleteAnd to comment on the FAMU/BCU game...it was great and I wish our students would be more supportive and keep that momentum throughout the season...those guys definitely feed off our energy, so we should not let them down!
8:47 PM...We are proud of anything FAMU or HBCU...so don't knock other accomplishments. With that being said congrats to the swimmer who's competing to be the first student from an HBCU to qualify in the NCAA swim meet (and all his accompanying accolades?).
