FAMU Mens & Women's track teams will be home this Friday and Saturday as the host the 58th Annual FAMU Relays tomorrow and Saturday. The two-day event will feature some of the top teams in collegiate and high school track & field. Both Rattler teams hope to make an impression after coming off a dismal indoor season.
In days gone by, the FAMU Relays used to be the center piece of the FAMU Spring Sports Carnival that featured home stands by the Rattler baseball, softball teams and other spring sports. That tradition seems to have faded with the many changes in athletic administrations.
In other sports news...
The Rattlers and Lady Rattlers basketball teams closeout the regular season tonight at home against Bethune-Cookman, before heading to the MEAC Tournament.
The men recently shut down SC State at home. You can see the highlights of the SC State game: here.
Bring back the Spring Sports Carnival !!!

ReplyDeleteI'll be there
FAMU's women trackers have, historically, always been good athletes. i wish them all the best.
ReplyDeletehistorically, we have had good track teams. BUT, that's history now !
ReplyDeletestill, 3:04, give the ladies some props. dang. people sure be hatin'
ReplyDeleteif you wish to diss the historical aspect of this, well, then, you have to look at the larger aspect of the young ladies running at, ahem, the historical school. are you dissing this, too? you cannot discount one w/o duly discounting the other.
I will definitely be out there this weekend to watch our Men's & Women's Track Teams in action.
ReplyDeleteWe need to really consider changing the date of the FAMU Relays. It makes no sense to have a track meet during our spring break. There will be hundreds of high school athletes participating in the Relays. This will be a great opportunity for us to showcase our student body while those young curious minds are on our campus.
Go FAMU Track Team!!!!
i feel u it should be changed for real like aroun spring preview or the last week of february
ReplyDeleteI agree with 9:36a.m. and 5:29p.m. Bring back the Sports Carnival. Change the dates to mid april and give students an event to look forward to before Graduation and end of term. 1TrueRattler who bleeds Orange and Green!
ReplyDeleteNo, don't change it. Athletes have to prepare for the end of the semester.
ReplyDeleteJust let it stay a Tallahassee community geared event.
"JUST". That limits everything. The sports carnival will allow the community to be involved. The resources needed to pull off a well equipped and organized recruitment quality tool is covered within the community. The entire university community can participate as well.
