Longtime Hillary pal Arthenia Joyner this morning made the Clinton campaign's presentation to the DNC's rules and bylaws committee. The Tampa state senator, an attorney and civil rights activist, goes way back with Clinton.

I saw Joyner on CNN this a.m. I think girlF has forgotten where she came from. Drum roll, please.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how the African Americans at this meeting are clearly kissin' Massa Hillary's butt! The Clinton's are quite clear about their position re: Negras.
ReplyDeleteFather Michael Phleger was only telling the truth. With all the race-baiting that the Clintons did in South Carolina, it certainly looks like she feels a sense of racial "entitlement" to the party's nomination.
ReplyDelete**Sorry. The correct spelling is: Michael Pfleger**
ReplyDeleteThe guest pastor at Obama's church was telling the truth. We all know it. The man spoke the truth. Obama knows it too, but of course, he could not weather another "pastor" storm and risk the gains he's made. He absolutely had to resign. We know that he didn't want to, but we all know that he had to do so this time. He weathered the Wright controversy, but this time, he really couldn't afford to remain. We all know, of course, that we cannot control what comes out of other's people's mouth, but Obama had to do what he had to do to save himself and his campaign. We know the preacher had it right, had it going on with the comments -- no matter how inflammatory they may have been, and I reckon the hoopin' and hollerin' didn't help Obama's situation either. The pastor had Hillary down "pat," too. I think the man has been around our people a r-e-a-l-l-y long time.
ReplyDeleteI, along with many other African Americans, was appalled to see a so called "leader" and "bright person" as ATTORNEY ARTHENIA JOYNER "drum rolling" for Hillary Clinton. It becomes obvious that she, either did not hear or take note of Bill and Hillary remarks and actions during the South Carolina Primary. I am quite sure she will not be proud of what the Clintons think of her behind closed doors. Her constituency should remember her actions here when she comes up for re-election. The word "sellout" is still alive and well.
ReplyDeleteShe is just as lost as Hillary!
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in her district she would have lost my vote. Somebody so disillusioned as she couldn't represent me.

OBAMA 1/20/09
Know your history. The REPUBLICANS under Lincoln set our people free. The Deomcrat party continues to seek to enslave us. WAKE UP.
ReplyDeleteBlacks are the only minority that is systematically enslaved by the party that can always count on their vote. I just don't get that.
Obama will enslave us further. The bigger the government, the less free we all are.
arthenia joyner stephanie tubbs jones I cry shame on them...the clintons will do nothing for them and they just dont get it! please note fox news too for placing african american females on their program who are doing nothing but debasing obama...a crying shame I tell you...well with these folks see the light? at lets not even begin to speak about other rattlers kendrick meek and alcee hasting straight coonin it up! its like these bozos forget why we sent um to washington!
ReplyDeleteSlavery ended about 7 generations ago (1865).
ReplyDeleteWhat century are you people living in?
Are you going to pass down this slave mentality to your children?
Live as free men or bow down and lick the boot that feeds you. But please SHUT UP about the slavery/massa crap.
I can understand alcee - bill pardon his boy william borders. But, the rest........
ReplyDeleteI've known Arthenia a long, long time. I still love her, like I do my own sister. But, I gotta tell her, like I would my own sister, "you been used."
ReplyDeletePlease!!! All of you need to go back and research your history and the role that the Clinton's (particularly Bill) played in promoting African Americans to key Cabinet positions. During his presidency, Bill appointed the largest number of African American cabinet officials ever: (Ron Brown Secretary of Commerce; Alexis Herman, Secretary of Labor; Jesse Brown and Togo D. West, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Hazel R. O’Leary, Secretary of Energy; Rodney Slater, Secretary of Transportation; Mike Epsy, Secretary of Agriculture) and Jocelyn Elders (Surgeon General).
ReplyDeleteAccording to a quote from Ebony: “Never before has a president appointed so many Blacks to the highest ranks of the executive branch”. It wasn’t too long ago that Tom Joyner and others lit up the airways calling Bill Clinton the “first Black President”. How often has both Republican and Democratic candidates courted the black vote and gave nothing in return, once in office. Some of you have a lot of nerves after you came out in record numbers (especially in Tallahassee and on the campus of The Florida A&M University) to vote for Jeb Bush, who promised that he would do nothing for you and didn’t.
The former president may be a number of things; but, racist isn’t one of them. The comments that were made in South Carolina were as truthful as you say Rev. Wright’s comments were. He stated that Hilary “may lose (then) Saturday’s Democratic presidential primary because many black voters will side with Obama”. He further indicated the historical significance of Rev. Jesse Jackson’s win in South Carolina, a campaign that helped pave the way for a number of African Americans to assume political office. Furthermore, he indicated that voting for president along racial lines “is understandable, because people are proud when someone who they identify with emerges for the first time”. Any way you want to look at it, those statements are true. Yes, there are a number of African Americans who are voting for Obama because they side with his views and course of direction for this country. There are others who are voting for him simply because he is black (AA). No different then a number of individuals who will pull for the team with the black coach or black quarterback. Its pride and all of us should be PROUD of what Obama has accomplished, including myself (though I support Hilary Clinton). The same can be said for white voters who side with Clinton, some are voting for her because of her views and others because she is white. The larger question is will Obama provide African Americans as many Cabinet positions and executive opportunities as former President Bill Clinton. Stay tuned because this time the Revolution will be televised.
The “Saw”
11:53 Nice spread on Clinton appointees, but you failed to mention that when Hazel, Mike and Jocelyn were attacked by Republicans, Clinton stood by and said NOTHING. He folded on them like a cheap lawn chair. Now if we are going to do Clinton accounting, let's also charge Lani Guinier and Pamela Alexander to his account. He nominated them for positions and as soon as their appointements ran into rough seas, he abandoned. And note, present legal views on disparate sentencing supports Alexander's work that caused Clinton to let her nomination flounder.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton is no saint and no significant friend to Black Americans. Bill Clinton's policies were not Negro friendly. Yes, Bill Clinton made many "symbolic" appointments but please list his policies that support the argument that he was a great friend to Black Americans.
Hey, hey! It took some guts for that HRC supporter to come on here. She's like the handful of conservatives who dare to appear on Bill Maher. Don't smash her argument too hard!
ReplyDeleteArthenia has been tricked, bamboozled, and had. The sad part is that she probably knows this but is incapable of doing anything about it. If I were in her district, she surely wouldn't get my vote. Most of these Clintonistas thought that Hillary Clinton would have a place at the table for them. Yeah, they'd have a place at the table, alright: picking up those dishes and clearing off that damn table after dinner's been served. Oh, and not's let forget to add the BET man: Bob Johnson. Big-time Coonie.
ReplyDeletealso add the fact that when the right-wingers attacked Lani Guinier (sp) to a judgeship, Clinton stood by and said and did zip.
ReplyDelete5:16 pm (6/03/08) I happened to have liked Lani, primarily because of her independence of thought and originality.
ReplyDeleteLong before Clinton ran for President of the United States, he, as governor was honoring the "Little Rock Nine," the blacks who integrated Little Rock High School.
In April 1968 (after he graduated)Clinton volunteered to work with the Red Cross to provide clothing and food to individuals (black families) whose homes had been burned in the riots following the assassination of Martin Luther King.
Not long after that, Hilary began organizing voter registration drives through out Arkansas and Texas.
Clinton was the first US President to make an official visit to Africa. During his administration, black home ownership increased significantly, black unemployment went down, black business ownership increased. Several African Americans were put in places(where billions of dollars flowed through their hands) to deal with a broad range of issues that had direct impact on the ability of African-Americans to prosper. Blame those African Americans.
After he left the presidency, he moved his executive office in the middle of Harlem. I supposed thats where he felt most comfortable.
One may argue against some of his policies namely his compromise with Republicans on Welfare. However, one can also suggest that those changes improved the lives of many AA dependant upon it in the long run. His heart and intentions were clear, as he vetoed the first two reform bills. However, with a Republican run Congress plus large numbers of moderate Democrats that crossed over, as well the realization that the majority of African Americans agreed with the reform, he compromised.
Another controversial policy that fell on his watch was the sentencing disparity between crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Again, large numbers of the black mayors of the major cities that were dealing the massive homicides and lost of families supported these decisions. Additionally, he consulted with and relied heavily upon former Urban League leader Vernon Jordan to gather the opinions of those communities prior to making decisions. (Maybe Obama will lean on Eric Holder).
However, I am willing to bet that Bill Clinton had more friends growing up and in college (who happened to be black) than Obama (until recently).
Remember, he grew up in Kansas, raised by a grandmother that made a number of deragatory remarks and had some interesting opinions about blacks. He went to schools that had few African Americans and built relationships with primarily individuals that were not African American. I make this point, ONLY, because he will likely reach back and call upon those associations as he make key appointments (assuming that he does become the President). Consequently, a lot of blacks that voted for him solely because he is black may be in for a BIG surprise. A Clarence Thomas size surprise.
4:09 For identification purposes the above (4:09 pm) was from "THE SAW".
ReplyDeleteWow! I never knew she was a FAMU grad... I respect her but she was pissin me off during that DNC meeting.( I'm for Obama!)These are the ole school politicians that have strong ties with the Clinton's going way back. Obama doesn't have those ties yet because he is new. That's the reason why most of the old guard didn't support him at first, but now they have no choice.
ReplyDelete1. I don't care about appointments as long as we have the #1 spot.
ReplyDelete2.Amen on Father pfleger...
3.Free! you ain't never free until your six ft. under...You wake up!Bow down... NEVER!
4.Most not all black women never gives the black man respect anyway but if Obama wins this office it will change the way we are perceived in the world and with or women.
5.The Clinton's policies are being felt now with NAFTA...ouch!
6.What's up with Bob Johnson?
7.Finally and most importantly this President will appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices.
