Gabrielle McMahon won the first round of the Jeopardy! College Championship this evening. McMahon is a 21-year-old business administration major from Springfield, Va., was the only student from a historically black college of university selected to compete in the championship.
McMahon won $10,000 to move on to the second round of the College Championships and earn a chance to win $100,000. She is believed to be the first FAMU student on the TV game show since Natalie Tindall in 2000.
Now that's why I love FAMU and those that represent her. It's a university that is cream which always rises to the top! Gabrielle McMahan is an outstanding, intelligent, vibrant young lady who represents her University well! Strike "Young" Rattler, Strike!
ReplyDeleteShe is representing not just for FAMU but for HBCUs in general. All HBCU grads should be proud!
ReplyDeleteI saw the full show, and I'm telling you, girlF was absolutely fantastic. She has said previously that she and her family used to play the game at home when she was younger, and her skills on the show really showed. She only missed one question--a Daily Double--and when Alex Trebeck gave the correct answer she mouthed it, too, which means she knew it, but time wasn't on her side. She was sharp, marture, and articulate, hitting the buzzer only when she was sure she knew the answer. She did us all proud. I teach at FAMU, but she's never been in one of my classes. I tell you this, though: she did the University proud.
ReplyDeleteWonder what CVB thought about one of our 2s administering an intellectual beatdown on national television.
ReplyDeleteSTRIKE!!
ReplyDeleteSTRIKE!!
AND
STRIKE AGAIN!!!!
FAMU beat Cal Tech & Minnesota in one night....at the same time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gabrielle. We are proud of you.
FAMU - The No. 1 College In America for black students!!!!
Everybody in the country probably visited www.famu.edu after the show. I love it!!!!!
Damn 2s don't know their roles! lol 2s don't get on Jeopardy let alone win. What's wrong with her? lol
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Castell: She probably wouldn't have even made it to the danggone trials, much less on the danggone show. And even though the questions are a tad easier for the college students than they are during the regular shows, she probably would've had a friggin' minus $10,000 on the college show. Anybody muck up a university the way she did in two years sure doesn't have it upstairs to answer a few Jeopardy questions. Plus, even if she knew the show was coming on, she probably too mean to even tune in. Of course, she didn't want to see just how WRONG she was about calling our students a "2."
