Oh hell naw!
Nearly three years to the day after Hurricane Katrina wrecked havoc on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, at least 1.9 million people have left coastal south Louisiana as Hurricane Gustav churns its way to landfall.
State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson said that from the reports he has received, between 90 and 95 percent of the residents of coastal Louisiana heeded orders to evacuate, some several days ago.
"More than 200,000 have left the New Orleans area,'' Edmonson said. "These are not the numbers we saw during Katrina because people left earlier and heeded the recommendations of the governor.''
Meanwhile, Gov. Bobby Jindal continued to urge coastal residents late Sunday to evacuate as soon as possible before tropical storm-force winds start buffeting the state early Monday.
"This is the first time we have successfully evacuated both southeast and southwest Louisiana (at the same time),'' he said. "The vast majority of the people have evacuated.''
Double hell naw!
As evacuees began scattering around the country, again, the federal government's computer system designed to keep track of folks crashed. They'll now attempt to keep track of where evacuees are placed manually.

Once again we will be able to watch poor people demonstrate the behavior that has made them poor in the first place.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for - expecting someone else to take care of them.
Thank God NOLA dogged a bullet this time, and so we won't have to hear more noise from A-holes like the guy/gal above.
ReplyDeletethere's a nugget of painful truth there... we just don't want to hear it.
ReplyDeletedamn, 7:49, wtf is your problem? and i suppose your sorry ass was born with a silver spoon in your mouth. everyone is not as fortunate --i guess you're "fortunate" -- as you to be free of all social ills, real and imagined. you're one pititful mf. i hope you are never in a situation where you need any type of assistance. and what the hell do you mean by "behavior that has made them poor in the first place"? have you ever heard of events and circumstances that occur in people's lives that are not in their control? No. Probably not. I don't even know why I bother to type this, because obviously, you, like John McCain, just don't get it. So, just forget all my previous remarks, because you just don't even have a mfing clue and no amount of explaining will ever get you to a place of understanding.
ReplyDelete11:12 Just because you are born into poverty doesn't mean you have to stay there.
ReplyDeleteWhy so many are 2nd generation Koreans/Indians/etc wealthy when their parents came to this country penniless?
Why are so many 10th generation blacks so poor?
Why?
It is embarrassing that so many of our people think that they are "owed" something by someone outside of their community.
Why do we feel that we are owed something from society? Are you someone's lapdog that needs to be fed and bathed?
That mentality is what is keeping the community enslaved to the democrat welfare system. Its time to take off the mental shackles and live like free men.
