After an innovative primary campaign which leveraged virtual social networks such as MySpace, Blackplanet, Facebook and YouTube to recruit supporters and maximize campaign donations, the Barack Obama campaign announces another virtual first: The campaign says its vice presidential announcement is "imminent" and will be made by text message and email.
In an e-mail to supporters, Obama's campaign manager said voters can sign up to receive an e-mail or a text message "the moment" he makes his decision.
"No other campaign has done this before," campaign manager David Plouffe said in the e-mail. "You can be part of this important moment."
The Los Angeles Times also speculates "the word might be released this weekend even during Obama's family vacation." IMHO, the Obama camp is very close or already knows who their veep will be, but, we probably will not get the announcement until much closer to the convention.
