Merry Christmas Rattlers! May all of our readers have a happy and safe holiday and a joyous new year filled with peace, prosperity, and hope! We may be doing light posting over the next week. Then, again we might not. Check back frequently.
Merry Christmas to you, Rattler Nation. Thanks for keeping FAMU supporters well informed. Keep up the good work.
What I'd like to see is some investigating reporting on FAMU's Track Facility. It is wayyyyy past time to resurface the surface and we have an unusual high number of injuries because of it. Coach Robinson has recruited some great athletes and done a great job with the hand he was dealt. We are the only college in America without a Track time clock. Most high schools have time clocks. The PA system is terrible and we need to change the day of the FAMU Relays so that our students will be able to attend. For the past several years, the FAMU Relays have been held during spring break. The campus looks like a ghost time. The high school athletes that participate in the Relays form a negative opinion of FAMU because they don't get an opportunity to see a live university campus.
9:14 "investigative", "investigating", what the heck. I agree with 9:11 poster. We need to use all of our resources to recruit and enhance our facilities. My son runs track for FAMU. Every year during the FAMU Relays, many high school athletes participate. Some of the parents even attend. Last year, I heard several parents complaining about the absence of a time clock. One of those complaining was the mom of a world class high school sprinter. Little things like that make a difference sometimes in an athlete's decision to sign with a college. Yes the economy is bad now, but we can't use that as an excuse for years of neglect. We have to be creative. It may not be a bad idea to have a FAMU Fun Run/Walk. Participants can pay $10.00 to participate. Proceeds can be used for the Track Program. And yes, the campus was dead during the FAMU Relays. That doesn't look very well for recruiting purposes. FAMU didn't even have enough student volunteers on hand to assist with the meet (set up hurdles, etc) Coach Robinson shouldn't have to set up hurdles and coach to. Back in the 80's, I remember the FAMU Sports Carnival (FAMU Relays, Baseball Game, Tennis, Swimming). The campus was full of excitement. Lets bring that back. We should not have the FAMU Relays during spring break, PERIOD!!!!But what do you expect from an Athletic Department that has had about 10 different ADs in the past 5 years? Based on my observation, the one we have now will be the worst in FAMU's history.
My son is happy that he signed to run track at FAMU. He has a lot of respect for Coach Robinson and he loves the university. He does not regret his decision to reject offers from SEC & Ivy League schools to attend FAMU. My wife and I are also pleased with Coach Robinson, FAMU, and are excited that our son will be running track for 3 more years.

Support Coach Rey Robinson and the Track Program.
Merry Christmas RN.
You do mean investigative don't you?
ReplyDeleteAnd you can't really be serious talking about a track surface, when layoffs are imminent?
