SBI professor dies of apparent stroke

Colin O. Benjamin, a popular SBI professor, collapsed and died last evening while playing a game of table tennis.

Benjamin came to SBI in 1995, where he holds the Anheuser-Busch Eminent Scholars Chair and pursued a program of student-centered applied collaborative research in the areas of Technology Commercialization, Supply Chain Information Systems, and Global Project Management. Benjamin held a B.S. in Civil Engineering, MBA, a Masters in Engineering Production and Management and a PhD in Industrial Engineering.

He has successfully directed numerous consulting projects in a variety of industrial settings including assignments with several Caribbean companies and US companies such as Philip Morris, American Automobile Association, John Deere, Houston Chronicle, and NASA-Langley Research Center.

He advised several multi-disciplinary teams of FAMU graduate students in developing winning business plans for technology-based ventures and in Social Entrepreneurship projects.
