Some donors to the Marching 100 "Road to Washington Campaign" were startled to answer the phone and find a member of the band on the other end of the line calling to say thanks.
One such donor reports receiving a call from an "actual [freshman] member of the "100". After she read the thank you statement, I had a chance to chat with her briefly about school. It was a nice and thoughtful gesture, the kind of thing that makes me want to continue giving."

Hubba HUNDRED!
ReplyDeleteFirst class !
ReplyDeleteI also received one of these calls. It made me feel good to hear from the student. Though I didn't give with the intent to receive something I am thankful none the less. FAMU is moving forward and it is much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI also received a call. The young man (percussionest from Tampa) was very polite. We chatted briefly and I wished him well and told him that I thought "The 100" was the best band in the world.
ReplyDeleteGO FAMU!!!
I received the call also. It was great to put an actual voice to my donation. Famu is #1
ReplyDeletedoing it right.
ReplyDeleteHubba Hundred! Very much a class act. Keep the legacy alive.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty surprised to receive a phone call as well. As a recent graduate (Summer '08) I didn't have much, so I gave about $20, so I was more than surprised when the young lady called to say thanks. That will definitely make me want to donate again. Very classy on the part of the Hundred.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks for quoting me RN. I'm serious about the wanting to continue giving. Like 7:44am said, the donation wasn't with the intent of receiving something, but the gesture was appreciated nonetheless. A class move, no bouts-a-doubt it!
ReplyDeleteIMHO, Dr. Foster laid down an unshakable foundation of professionalism in the "100" that continue to shine as a beacon of pride. Dr. White continues to build on that foundation, as we can see in recent events. Even in my recent travels, folks from rural upstate NY talk about seeing them in the inaugural parade and wanting to see them perform live.
May God continue to bless the members of Marching "100", its leadership, the university family past, present, and future. And thank you RN. 2  ;-)
Quite as its kept, this idea was all the new VP for Development's idea.
ReplyDeleteThen, kudos to the VP of Development for this, and her staff for getting my previous donation from November straightened out.
