Kyle watch: College Hill recap
March 25, 2009

From the BET website: He's a drama queen who shrieks at the thought of women's body parts. He's that gay.
Within 45 seconds of appearing on camera, our Kyle, set BET College Hill off! He brought "hollywood" (drama) to South Florida like we knew he would.
Kyle's encounter with new housemate Milan was at first innocent, while he complimented her and admired her fashions. Once they joined the rest of the housemates Kyle turned on Milan for asking him whether or not he was gay in their initial meeting.
Then after a two minute profanity laced beat down of Milan in front of all the housemates, he changed from Kyle the drama queen to Kyle the story teller and became narrator of the show.
Season six of College Hill is going to take us through many twist and turns. We'll keep watching.

If Kyle is gay, so what?? Tv is entertainment, and in that regard he should bring lots of entertainment to the viewers. I've never watched the show and won't watch it now, but I'm sure he's going to add a lot of dramatics to the series. I say, 'good for him.' He's following his dream.
ReplyDeleteYeah his dream... to act a fool on national TV, some dream!
ReplyDeleteThat boy went off in the first five minutes of the show i hope people don't use him as an example of the rest of famu
ReplyDeleteNo disrespect, but he has been an issue for FAMU since he was in high school. His sexuality isn't the issue for most, if any Rattler. My personal issue really is with BET and the foolishness that it has put on the shoulders of HBCU's. Despite our prayers, now FAMU! It definitely doesn't have the same interest/recruitment effect that 'A Different World' did and still does. I personally witness the response from both shows and this show should have been cut back when it stopped using names of schools. Yet another attack on the progress, image, psyche of our people and institutions. I'm over the channel and so should most of us. Go TVOne. Of course most of us pay cable companies who won't even carry the channel without a fight. GO FIGURE!
ReplyDelete5:39, you may not know any better or may be blinded but-TV is an educational tool. Entertainment is the problem with us. Its not the only industry we can create in,work in, thrive in, make a living in! Wake up, its the sharecropping/enslavement of a people. And as Black people go, so goes America. This country and the others who want to be like us are OVERconsumed with entertainment! Stop our children from being coons and sambos for these other people. We're more than entertainers!
ReplyDeleteGoods and services people. Goods and services. We should be focused on providing NEEDS. This is turning into a NEED BASED global economy.

ReplyDeleteWell I guess Kyle got what he wanted - A National fan club. Because everybody is talking about "Kyle" from the facebook statuses to the office water hole. Folk will now be tuning in every Tuesday night to the "Kyle Show" formerly known as College Hill.
ReplyDelete6:23, so what if he "acts the fool on national tv"? He's no different from all the others who act the fool on tv -- those same folks that YOU probably watch and laugh about. It's just that he attends FAMU and therein lays our so-call "interest." I say give the young man a break. He's on tv, and you're typing on RN. I reckon you're "following your dream" by typing.
ReplyDeleteWell, of course,we're "more than entertainers," but this show is about being entertained. It's not "educational." If you want educational, I say tune into the myriad of academic programs and infromational sites on television. TV is certainment. Now, whether that entertainmnet comes in the form of "informational" entertainment or just plain foolishness, it's entertainment, still. 7:29, perhaps you need a dictionary or a related word source to help you in your definition and/or understanding of the myriad of meanings that the word "entertainment" embraces. Sometimes, 7:29, we must think outside our general base of knowledge, or, as "they" say, "outside the box."
ReplyDeleteTO: Poster 6:23 -- Maybe that boy's dream is to act a fool on national tv. Who are we to say that he should not, as poster 5:39 says, "follow his dream." Maybe he has always aspired to act tomfoolery on tv. Now, he's getting a chance. If he doesn't do it on national tv, he's going to do it someplace else. The thing is, however, is that no one is making anybody watch it. Click. Click. Change the channel. While it won't make him go away from tv, it will, however, make him disappear from your eyes. (I suspect, however, that you might just want to see him act foolish on tv, so you'll be watching him -- you'll be complaining -- but you'll be watching him anyway.
ReplyDeleteTomfoolary, ignorance and just plain old stupidity. Is this the image that we want to represent FAMU? I'm saddened as a Rattler that some on this message board seem to condone this young man's behavior. I bet they are the same one's who scream racism about the negative views that some feel about FAMU. If we expect to be taken seriously and not looked upon as an eyesore to Florida Higher Education we should begin to break negative sterotypes and ignoring those that feed into the negative sterotypes.
ReplyDelete607, You like arguing for the sake of. This blog is about FAMU not this COONERY! NEXT TOPIC. Ignorant @etnertainment blubrb. tsk
ReplyDeleteIt was RN's decision to put the "Kyle-watch" post online, not mine, 3:11. If RN didn't suspected that such "coonery" comments would follow --, it surely has the capacity and authority to not publish what folks say about the post. If you don't wish to read such "coonery," then don't. Simple as that. This isn't rocket science. Well, maybe to you, it is. So for you to know that this is "coonery," you had to have read each and every one of the posts. And this, I am afraid, says more about your enjoyment of "arguing for the sake of arguing" than it does about anything posted here.
ReplyDeleteThe dude is an idiot. Attacking people like that is going to get him in some real trouble very soon.
ReplyDeleteKYLE IS A FAT BASTARD WITH HIS WANNA BE WOMAN A*& IF I EVER SEE HIS BLACK CRACKED OUT AS* I AM STRAIGHT FIRING ON HIM.....YOU HAVE NO RIGHT U ARE LOWER THAN SATAN FOOL. ReplyDeleteI do realize this is television; however some African Americans always complain about being disprected and degraded by other races and yet BET allow this type of personality on black television from a black person representing a prominent black college. We should pratice what we preach, there is a limit with everything, this may be one of the reason why African Americans are not taken serious by some others and continue to be degraded. Kyle is not attractive at all and the other guys appear very unmanly to allow this type of behavior toward the women. Some people will do anything for money to allow this type of behavior on black tv there should be a limit. I am really dissapointed in BET. Many of my family members attend and have attended FAMU.
ReplyDeleteim watching a marathon of this show and im sorry but kyle has some serious problems..its disgustingly apparent and before he goes on tv like that he should get the help he needs---it made my skin crawl to watch him behave like that.
ReplyDeleteAll u can is this guy is a bloody joke, I saw him and I just got the vibe that he hasn't got anything better to do then to start trouble because he has nothing else to concentrate on. It's a shame that a young black man feels that he has to protray himself in that manner. It is quite poor that he feels that he must degrade someone else to make himself feel good. I always say that if you can't handle the heat when it's your face them do dish it out to people you don't even know or have even given the time to get to know either. Things like that just go to show you must not have any respect for yourself to treat any other human being like that. So Kyle Washington you need to take a good look at yourself before you start crusing anyone else about anything because goodness starts at home and if you can't respect and treat other people properly them you have a problem within yourself that you need to recognize.
