The latest Reuters poll shows U.S. President Barack Obama-D holding his lead over challenger Mitt Romney-R by a 48 percent to 43 percent margin.

Obama previously lead by six points before the debate, with 47 percent to 41 percent lead.

After last night’s debate, Obama’s support went up by one percent and Romney’s went up by two percent. That was a net loss of one percent for Obama.

The poll also found that Romney’s favorability rating also received a boost from the debate. He has now reached 51 percent benchmark in this area for the first time since he became the Republican nominee.

Obama’s favorability rating remained the same at 56 percent.
