The MEAC announced the 2012 Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Academic honorees, recognizing 92 student-athletes, from the conference's 13 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2011-12 school year.

This year, FAMU swept the men and women’s cross country conference titles. Nine FAMU runners made the All-Academic Honors list. They were: Lamere Buchanan, Isaiah Coleman, Oliver McDaniel, Shuaib Winters, Ariel Allen, Simone Durden, Clarricia Golden, Chandelic Jackson, and Ciera Williams.

"I commend the men's and women's cross country student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2011-12 academic school year," said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas.  "In addition to recognizing the student-athletes accomplishments, I also applaud the athletic academic support staff and personnel and coaching staffs who contributed to the academic triumphs of these student-athletes. Our institutions, coaches and support staffs are committed to the academic success of our student-athletes."
