Elias Chesire claimed two MEAC crowns by winning the 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase runs.
Three Rattlers won individual championships during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Distance runner Elias Chesire (pictured) claimed gold by defending his title as the 5,000m run champion. He also won the 3,000m steeplechase. Sprinter Nakia Linson lit up the scoreboard, winning the 100m dash in 14.70. Thrower Sasha-Ann Lebert took first place in the discus, with a toss of 46.07m (151-02) to take first place.

The Rattler men finished seventh, overall, and the Lady Rattlers finished third, overall. Head Coaches Wayne Angel and Darlene Moore said the results show that their teams have a bright future.

“We have a foundation of a solid team and what we're looking to do now is find the right pieces to round out the team in order to compete for a championship next year,” Angel said.

Moore said that the Lady Rattlers will come back even stronger next year, as well.

“I cannot be any more impressed with my young ladies than I am right now,” said women’s Coach Darlene Moore. “Next year, I will have a veteran squad and you should expect bigger and better things out of the Lady Rattlers.”
