Maurice Green, a 2001 graduate of FAMU, is the executive producer of the new film, After Effects, which will be available on DVD beginning October 8 at selected Wal-Mart Stores throughout the U.S.

The film features Daniel Baldwin and ex-New England Patriot Brandon Lloyd in a tale of six college students who register to participate in an off-campus research study, but later find themselves experiencing an arousing military awakening.

Green, a native of Tampa, Fla., began his tenure at FAMU as a junior, due to college dual enrollment credits he completed in 1998 while at Thomas Jefferson Senior High School. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion. He completed dual minor degrees in chemistry, and in middle school mathematics and science. Green is a life member of the FAMU National Alumni Association and the NAACP.

Green states that his “love of science, its surrounding mysteries and how it affects our everyday lives” influenced his interest in backing the film. He acknowledges that Denise Burgan, another FAMU graduate, further inspired his engagement.

“Burgan’s enthusiasm and commitment to promote the project, as well as her status as a fellow rattler sealed the deal,” Green said.

Green notes that his investment has not been lost, as the buzz and interest in the cinema production appears to be growing, although for varying reasons. He adds that “stories about athlete Lloyd’s involvement in the film have sparked national dialogue on CNN.com, Fox Sports News and ESPN. To view the latest, see articles and trailer here.

In addition to Wal-Mart, copies of the DVD will also be available on Amazon, iTunes and TV On Demand (AT&T U Verse, Verizon Fios and other outlets) in October.
