Effiey Kosgei, who was a freshman on last year’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship team, turned heads throughout the conference with her speedy finish in the Lady Rattlers’ season opener. The performance led the MEAC to name her its Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Kosgei, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, took second overall
at the 110% Cross Country Invitational the University of North Florida on
August 31. She clocked a time of 18:49, which helped lead the Lady Rattlers to a
second-place finish out of four teams.
