Parks, FAMU alumnus, and his partner Crump founded their law
firm in 1995 after earned their law degrees from Florida State University. They
are internationally known for representing the families of slain teenagers Martin
Lee Anderson, Trayvon Martin, Marlon Brown, and Kendrick Johnson.
"I'm very happy to be honored,” Parks said in an interview WCTV-6. “As most folks know, Ben and I give our all to try to do
everything that we can do to help FAMU and we feel very strongly about that.”
Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will be used for the
Chapter's annual scholarships awards including the V.L. Elkins Scholarship, the
Annual Band and Football Camps. The Elkins Scholarship is awarded to incoming
freshmen attending FAMU from Leon County. In 2013, the Leon County Chapter
awarded more than $15,000 in scholarships to deserving Leon County students.
