The Leon County Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association honored Tallahassee attorneys Daryl Parks and Benjamin Crump at its 10th Annual Roast and Toast, held last night.

Parks, FAMU alumnus, and his partner Crump founded their law firm in 1995 after earned their law degrees from Florida State University. They are internationally known for representing the families of slain teenagers Martin Lee Anderson, Trayvon Martin, Marlon Brown, and Kendrick Johnson.

"I'm very happy to be honored,” Parks said in an interview WCTV-6. “As most folks know, Ben and I give our all to try to do everything that we can do to help FAMU and we feel very strongly about that.”

Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will be used for the Chapter's annual scholarships awards including the V.L. Elkins Scholarship, the Annual Band and Football Camps. The Elkins Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen attending FAMU from Leon County. In 2013, the Leon County Chapter awarded more than $15,000 in scholarships to deserving Leon County students.
