Mangum administration continues its laziness with FAMU Trustee Directory updates

FAMU Trustee Directory on January 30, 2016 (FAMU.edu)
Back on January 21, the Florida Board of Governors (BOG) appointed Thomas Dortch Jr. and Craig Reed to the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees (BOT). But you wouldn’t know that by looking at the FAMU.edu Trustee Directory because as of the time of this blog posting, President Elmira Mangum’s administration still hasn’t updated that webpage to include them.

Dortch and Reed are still nowhere to be found on the online directory. The problem can’t be that the FAMU administration doesn’t have access to the official appointment announcements or the new trustees’ biographies because the BOG posted that information in a press release on its website the day after it made their selections official.

Maybe the task of cutting-and-pasting their names and bios into the FAMU Trustee Directory webpage is just too technologically complicated and labor-intensive to be accomplished in nine days.

Former FAMU Trustee Karl White remains listed on the directory even though he is finally off the BOT.

This laziness in updating the online Trustee Directory is a continuing problem within the current administration. Gov. Rick Scott appointed Matthew Carter, David Lawrence Jr., and Gary McCoy to the BOT on December 18, 2015. But Mangum’s team didn’t bother to update the FAMU Trustee Directory to add them until after New Year’s Day.

The Mangum administration hasn’t always been this slow with Trustee Directory updates. Back when former Trustees Rufus Montgomery and Spurgeon McWilliams resigned, their information was deleted from the website very quickly.

  1. Is there a problem with Mangum and this writer? It seems that the dates mentioned, December 18 through January 1, include the colleges' holiday vacation period. Give the lady a break sometimes! Consider the petty atmosphere that's being created here and stop putting all of FAMU's business "in the streets"! Hmmm, I wonder if FSU, UF, or others do what we do to our university!
