Earlier this week, Larry Robinson, Ph.D., was inaugurated as the 12th president of Florida A&M University.
The ceremony took place in the Alfred “Al” Lawson Teaching Gymnasium and Multipurpose Center. Kelvin Lawson, chair of the FAMU Board of Trustees, presented Robinson with the presidential medallion and university mace. First Lady Sharon Robinson placed the presidential robe and hood on her husband.
CBS Vice President for News Kim Godwin, a FAMU alumna, presided at the event. Students representing the FAMU Concert Choir, Wind Symphony, and Essential Theatre also performed.
The attendees included: U.S. Rep. Alfred “Al” Lawson and his wife Delores Brooks Lawson, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education Frank Brogan, Florida Board of Governors member Alan Levine, State Sen. Bill Montford, Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson, FAMU Faculty Senate President Bettye A. Grable, FAMU Student Body President David H. Jackson, III, FAMU National Alumni Association President Gregory L. Clark, FAMU Trustee Robert Woody, FAMU Trustee Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., Virginia State University President Makola M. Abdullah, Virginia State University Provost Donald Palm, University of Florida President W. Kent Fuchs, and Washington University in St. Louis Provost Emeritus Edward Macias.
