The Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery, at FAMU, will be exhibiting new works by graduating fine arts students from April 8 – May 3. The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception on April 11, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the gallery.
The exhibit will feature works in a variety of art media by the Fine Arts program’s three graduating seniors ---Stephanie Smith(Jacksonville, FL), Shante Griffin(Cartersville, GA), and Kaiyla Thompson (Raleigh, NC).
Stephanie Smith’s exhibition, titled Years of Enlightenment, is a creative depiction of her growth from childhood to present using photographs from past to present.
Shante Griffin’s work is titled Abundant Life, looks to honor God as the foundation of her life and proclaim her Christian faith. Shante uses biblical references as the basis for her large scale.
Kaiyla Thompson will be presenting her exhibition, titled In God’s Name, a presentation of mixed-media paintings and installed works.
One of the unique features of the exhibit is an interactive station, presented by the artist, that asks viewers to consider their takeaways (truths) from the exhibit, and to share their own.
There is no cost to attend the exhibit or the reception. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
