A team of five FAMU students recently won the "Moguls in the Making," a "Shark Tank" inspired competition sponsored by Ally Financial, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and Sean "Big Sean" Anderson.  Moguls in the Making is an inventive program aimed at preparing students from HBCUs to become future entrepreneurs and members of the business community.

Working in teams of five, the students developed business plans that include solutions to economic issues facing various industries in Detroit.  The teams then pitched their solutions to a panel of judges who scored each.

Moguls in the Making received over 500 applications, but only 50 students from 10 HBCUs were selected.  The students were grouped together by college/university.

When all was said and done, the FAMU team consisting of Livi Grant, Keishon Smith, Nalani Kelley-Marsh, Emmanuel Dawson and Earl Perry were named the winners. Each team member received a $5,000 scholarship, an Apple laptop and an internship at Ally Financial.

The other teams in the competition were: Alabama A&M, Elizabeth City State, Howard, Jackson State, Morgan State, Norfolk State, Virginia State, Tennessee State, and North Carolina A&T.
