FAMU alumnus Jason Broughton, on yesterday, was appointed Vermont state librarian by Governor Phil Scott. He becomes the first African-American to serve as Vermont state librarian. Prior to the appointment, he served as the interim state librarian since August 2018.
Broughton, a former member of the Marching 100, holds a bachelors in biology education from FAMU (1996. He earned a M.S. degrees in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina and M.S. in Public Administration from the University of South Florida.
“I am honored to serve as Vermont’s next state librarian,” said Broughton. “Libraries across Vermont are doing amazing work that is forward thinking and community engaged.”
