One of the most storied rivalries in all of HBCU football returns this Saturday after being dormant for 6 years, when the Rattlers of FAMU face off against the Jaguars of Southern University in Bragg Stadium.

The anticipation for this once-annual game has been building up since the two schools jointly announced the initial series renewal of the home-and- agreement in May 2018.

The annual series ended in 2001, and the two teams have met just four times on the gridiron since the in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge in 2007 and twice in the former Atlanta Football Classic in 2011 and 2012.

The last meeting between the Jaguars and the Rattlers on the schools’ respective campuses occurred in 2008, when FAMU edged Southern 52-49 in Baton Rouge, La.

FAMU enjoys a 33-26-1 series lead in the rivalry which dates back to 1941.
