For the second consecutive time this fall, the Florida A&M University men’s golf team brought home some hardware as the the Rattlers captured the Gulf Shores Invitational championship on Monday, winning the title by 20 strokes at the Peninsula Golf Club.
Florida A&M fired a final-round 297 to win the tournament with a 893 (29-over par). Texas Southern finished second with a 913, followed by Arkansas-Pine Bluff (913), Alabama A&M (997) and Prairie View A&M (1003). Alabama State did not finish the tournament.
FAMU’s Mulbe Dillard was the low medalist as he fired a 68 in the first round and wrapped up play with A 75 and 73 for even par. Cameron Riley placed fifth with an 8-over-par 224. Logan Bryant (228) and Ethan Mangum (229) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Isaiah Shaw (239) wrapped up the individual scoring with a 20th-place finish.
Florida A&M returns to action Oct. 28-29 at the Savannah State Tiger Invitational at the Crosswinds Country Club.
