The FAMU Rattlers will focus their attention on the Morgan State Bears as they look to extend their six –game winning streak Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from Hughes Stadium in Baltimore, Md.
The Rattlers (6-1 overall, 4-0 MEAC) survived back-to-back tough contests with a pair of wins. Morgan State (1-6, 1-3) enters the matchup off a 24-10 road loss to South Carolina State. The Bears’ ground game was held to minus-five rushing yards and the quarterbacks were sacked seven times.
The reality of this game and every game is that it is a trap game,” Florida A&M head coach Willie Simmons said. “We have a goal in mind and to finish the season as the best team in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Every team that stands in our way is a trap and is trying to take that away from us. We will approach this game no differently than we approach any other game, and that means us preparing to go play our best.
“It means focusing on the little things, blocking out the outside noise, whatever form that might come in, and us controlling what we can control, continuing to be exactly where our feet our and that’s the approach we’ve always taken, that’s the approach we are going to take this week and we feel like with that approach, that eliminates the highs and lows that sometimes associate football teams. We always want to be a team that’s even keel in our approach. I don’t even believe playing up to a competition or playing down to a competition. Every team we play, it’s our job to bring our very best, and if we focus on that, and do that, I think we give ourselves a great chance to go to Morgan State and come away with the victory.”
