The FAMU Rattlers struck quickly and often, scoring 31-unanswered points in the first half Saturday as they cruised to a 52-30 victory over the Hornets of Delaware State. The win moved the Rattlers to 8-1 overall, 6-0 MEAC.
The Rattlers dominated in every facet of the game with QB Ryan Stanley completing 15 of 25 passes for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stanley, again, cruised his way into the FAMU record book becoming the Rattlers all time touchdown passing leader with 58 career TD passes., and broke he TD passing attempt marking with 1,114 career attempts.
FAMU wide receiver Xavier Smith got into the FAMU record books as he caught nine passes for 184 yards, with four touchdowns. Those four scores put him in some elite company as he now holds the single-game record touchdowns, surpassing the previous record held by Cainon Lamb, Jacquay Nunnally and Ray Alexander.
The Hornets fell to 1-8 overall, 0-6 MEAC.
Florida A&M takes a week off to prepare for the final stretch. The Rattlers return to action on Nov. 16 for Senior Day against Howard.
