FAMU President Larry Robinson, in an email to the campus community, announced his appointment of Alan D. Robertson, Ed.D., as the University's new CFO and Vice President of Finance and Administration.  The announce came late in the afternoon on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  He will begin his tenure on Jan.1

The announcement heralded Robertson as a leader with more than 30 years of senior and professional leadership experience who had served as the senior vice president and CFO of Morehouse College.

Questionable background
Robertson, most recently was a finalist for the presidency at Bethune-Cookman University in Dayton Beach.

During a January review of his background, the Daytona Beach News Journal newspaper wrote, "the biographical information on Robertson said he was senior vice president of business and finance at Atlanta’s Morehouse College since 2013. It also says he served as vice president of finance and administration at Chicago’s Prairie State College during the same time frame.

He no longer works for either school. A Morehouse employee said Robertson hadn’t worked there since last year. An employee at Prairie State said Robertson hadn’t worked there in roughly a year. Robertson could not be reached for comment. "

The FAMU email also touted Robertson's tenure at Chicago State University in which said the University achieved a balanced budget and improved cash flow for five consecutive years, after four years of consecutive operating deficits. He has also led finance and administration departments at North Carolina Central University and Prairie State College.

Robertson, a CPA, earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from DePaul University; an MBA, with concentrations in finance, marketing and organizational behavior from Northwestern University; and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania.

Robertson replaces interim CFO Richard Schweigert, who has been in the position since August 2019.

Schweigert will assist FAMU with the transition in leadership.
