FAMU/MEAC suspends spring sports due to coronavirus

FAMU athletics department, along with the MEAC, yesterday announced that the suspension of all athletic activities for the remainder of the spring semester out of an abundance of caution related to the spread of the coronavirus.
This covers baseball, softball, track & field, men's/women's tennis, golf and bowling. The suspension also includes football practice and the Orange & Green Game which was scheduled for Saturday, March 28.
Wayne Frederick, MD, Chair of the MEAC Council of Presidents and President of Howard University, said " these actions have been take to protect the well-being of participants, staffs and spectators."
"While we are disappointed that the excellence of our student-athletes after months of preparation will not be showcased, their health and safety as well as  that of the wider community is of paramount importance," Frederick said.
