FAMU grad Jason Hurst, and his wife Edwina, are the owners of two Maple Street Biscuit Company franchises in Gainesville, FL. Jason said he wanted to honor his grandmother, who passed when he was in high school, by providing an avenue for people to gather and enjoy the comfort of soul food.
Jason, born and raised in the west suburbs of Chicago, worked on Wall Street for a while, before working in pharmaceutical sales, opened a maintenance contracting business, and then became a real estate agent before becoming a Maple Street franchisee in 2018.
The Hursts have 2 locations in Gainesville, FL: Butler Plaza and Tioga Town Center.
