FAMU’s much anticipated new Center for Access and Student Success building will not open this fall as expected, because of “construction delays related to COVID-19”.   Originally, the building had been expected to be completed in July 2019.

Last month, FAMU VP of Administrative and Financial Services Alan Robertson told trustees that “the project is going extremely well and is conservatively at 60% completion. There are no major risks at this point. The completion date has been delayed a month due to precautions taken by the contractor related to social distancing. The delay will have little impact on our operations as Student Affairs move-in date was slated for move-in September 28, 2020 through Thanksgiving. The grand opening is still planned for homecoming.”

However, according to board documents the building which is 72% complete, now has a new targeted date for substantial completion of November 10, 2020.  With move-in expected by December 31, 2020.
