FAMU students began moving into the campus dorms, for the first time since being forced to leave in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fall 2020 move-in process is a bit different than past years.
Normally, moving day would be bustling, and cheers from students and parents would be echoing throughout the hallways, but not this year. Only two people are allowed to assist a student during moving in to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
“We are excited about the return of our students. Our team has been working throughout the summer to create an environment to safeguard their health and safety as well as our faculty and staff while creating an environment conducive to learning,” President Larry Robinson said. “Because of the global pandemic, things are going to look very different this year; however, we are certain that our students will continue to excel in this new environment on the ‘Hill’.”
About 2,000 students are expected to live in residence halls, and most all will have single rooms.
FAMU is offering a mixture of online, remote and in-person instruction this semester.
