FAMU is one of five HBCUs that will participate in a $5 million initiative with Dow Inc., a global chemical producer, to create more Black STEM graduates.
Dow's portfolio of plastics, industrial intermediates, coatings and silicones businesses delivers a broad range of differentiated science-based products and solutions for its customers in high-growth market segments, such as packaging, infrastructure and consumer care.

Other schools included in the partnership are NC A&T, Howard University, Prairie View A&M University and Southern University.
The partnership will be seed by an upfront investment of $500,000 from Dow's fund to address systemic racism and inequality and be followed up by an additional $.6 million in support through 2024.
