FAMU again has experienced a sharp increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases among students. For the week ending Nov. 20, 66 students reported testing positive, along with three employees compared to 49 students and one employee the previous week.

The new figure is now the highest single-week student report since Aug. 1, according to the university’s online dashboard.

Since Aug. 1, 264 positive tests have been self-reported to FAMU health officials, including 222 students and 42 employees.

The spike in cases last week follows a national trend as the daily number of new positive cases continues to exceed 185,000 and the US reported a record 83,081 coronavirus hospitalizations Saturday.
