The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency, a joint agency of the City of Tallahassee and Leon County, will meet this afternoon to approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the agency and the University to fund $10 million worth of critical construction repairs and improvements at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
In September, the Blueprint Board approved funding for the project as an economic development project. Because of other commitments, and the extreme urgency of the Bragg request, Blueprint will take out a $10 million bank loan from Regions Bank. The funds will be a no-cost grant to FAMU. The bank loan, along with the MOU with FAMU are expected to be approved at today’s meeting.
According to the MOU, Blueprint will make its first payment to FAMU in January 2021 in the amount of $450,000 which will cover the design work, permit review cost incurred by the University. Subsequent payments to the University will be on a cost-reimbursement basis upon the submission of contractor and vendor invoices, along with all necessary or requested documentation.
City/County use of Stadium
In exchange for the $10 million grant, FAMU will allow the City or County to use Bragg Stadium for up to 15 days a year at reduced of no cost. These days will not conflict with FAMU sponsored events. FAMU must also allow Leon County to use the stadium for emergency shelter or staging for no cost for up to 10 years.
Press box to remain on Westside
Updated, drawings submitted to Blueprint shows that press box will remain on the west side of the stadium. This is different from the plans submitted August.
