The FAMU baseball team split a doubleheader against MEAC foe North Carolina Central University yesterday, the Rattlers dropped game one 0-3, and the evening game 8-3 in Tallahassee.

FAMU was limited to three hits in game one, it what proved to be a pitcher's duel between FAMU's Josh Hancock and NCCU's Austin Vernon. Hancock (4-5) worked 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three.

Neither team could muster a run, or very many hits, over the first five innings of the game. Both teams combined for just five hits heading into the sixth inning.

The Eagles broke the deadlock in the top of the sixth inning, scoring two runs on three hits. NCCU added one more in the top of the seventh to claim the 3-0 win.

The nightcap was the complete opposite. The Rattlers exploded for 10 hits, while NCCU picked up nine.

After the Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the Rattlers responded with six runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Because of the potential for inclement weather this weekend, the schedule FAMU and NCCU will now play a doubleheader on Sunday, and Saturday's game has been postponed until 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. The final game of the series will begin 45 minutes following the conclusion of the first game.
