We sadly mourn the passing of Frederick Stephen Humphries, 8th President of Florida A&M University, a proud son of FAMU and Apalachicola, FL. Dr. Humphries dedicated his life to public service and the uplifting of race through education.
Under his visionary leadership, FAMU got to experience what it feels like to be champions in academics and athletics. And, through his presidency he modeled a true spirit of excellence with caring and became the blueprint for the successful modern day HBCU president.
As we grieve President Humphries' passing, the Rattler Nation every where are united in sorrow and pray for his family and loved ones.
May it be a comfort to his children Fred, Jr., Robin Tanya and Laurence, and grandchildren, and the entire Humphries family that so many mourn their loss and are praying for them at this sad time.
