FAMU saw a 14 percent increase in the first-time professional licensure exam passage rates for graduates of its physical therapy program, according to a table published in the 2021 State University System Accountability Plans used by FL Board of Governors at its June 22 meeting.

The passage rate improved from 69 percent for the 2017-19 cohort to 83 percent for the 2018-20 cohort the data shows.

Just last year, graduates of the program tested five points or more below state or national scores, resulting in Provost and VP for Academic Affairs Maurice Edington, being called before the BOG to outline an improvement plan.   “I can assure you, from our Board of Trustees down to central administration, that licensure pass rates are a very high priority on our list,” Edington said at the time.
