FAMU has begun the process of demolishing the 57-year-old Paddyfote Housing Complex located on the corner  of Gable Street and Wannish Way.

The University announced in 2019, their plans to decommission Paddyfote Complex, along with Truth Hall and the Palmetto North Apartments once the new 700-bed (FAMU Towers)  were completed.

Paddyfote was built in 1967 and has a capacity of 365.
Truth Hall was built in 1959 and last renovated in 1980. It has a capacity of 103.  Palmetto North was built in 1974 and has a capacity of 202.

The older facilities became too costly to repair, and it was  more cost effective to replace them.

McGuinn, Diamond, Wheatley and Cropper Halls faced a similar fate in recent years
