Truth Hall, constructed in 1959, on the campus of Florida A&M University |
When the new facility opens, FAMU will decommission Truth Hall, the Paddyfote Complex, and the Palmetto North Apartments. The new 700-bed hall will replace the beds lost through the closure of those facilities and make room for additional beds.
FAMU will build the new residence hall with funds it recently received from the HBCU Capital Financing Program run by the U.S. Department of Education.
The university is in the process of demolishing McGuinn Hall, Diamond Hall, Wheatley Hall, and Cropper Hall in order to clear the site for the construction of a new amphitheater.
According to the FAMU Office of Housing and Residence Life, Truth Hall was built in 1959 and last renovated in 1980. It has a capacity of 103. Paddyfote was built in 1967 and has a capacity of 365. Palmetto North was built in 1974 and has a capacity of 202.
