Three FAMU engineering students --Alleana Jacobs, Aaron Smith and Sierra Smith-- have been awarded $15,000 scholarships from Apple, as a part of the Apple HBCU Scholars program, through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF).
In addition to the financial support, Jacobs, a civil and environmental engineering major, Smith a electrical and computer engineering major, and Smith a mechanical engineering major, will receive a 12-week internship at Apple during Summer 2022, and each be assigned a mentor from the tech giant.
In June 2020, Apple provide $40 million to TMCF to set up the scholarship program to provide
professional development opportunities for outstanding Black students and to increase the number of African-Americans in the tech industry.
